During the year the singer did a massive world tour including shutting down the Brixton Academy. Burna has also featured on a handful of tunes with internationally recognized music stars.
- Wizkid
In a year when everyone was keeping their music hustle 100%, Africa’s biggest pop star did not go cold. Ayodeji Ibrahim did well both locally and internationally. On the local scene Wizkid had one of the biggest songs ‘Soco’ and the buzzing ‘Fever’. On the international line, he featured on several international collabos with Normani, Metro Boomin, MHD, Afro B to say the least. He became the first Nigerian artiste to walk the runway for Dolce & Gabana, modeled for Moschino etc. The starboy was never missing in action home and away.
- Davido
On the number three spot on the list is David Adeleke popularly known as Davido. The DMW boss dropped two spots from last year nevertheless, Davido put in the much needed work required to stay on top in the game. Somehow, the singer managed to captain the best record label in 2018. On a personal front, he made the second most viewed Nigerian music video this year ‘Assurance’ only behind ‘Soco’. He picked up the coveted BET awards and was nominated for the MTV EMA.
- Olamide
Baddo has consistently made the top five every year for the past 3 – 4 years. This year was the same as he keep us busy with hits like ‘Science Student’, one of the top most searched songs on Google, ‘Motigbana’, ‘Poverty Die’ etc. As the leader of YBNL he has been able to bring his artistes into limelight. As usual the rapper & singer embarked on his Europe tour and did the usual December concert OLIC 5.
- Tiwa Savage
The Mavin Records becomes the first female to make the list. She has been a top music act this year as she set a few records. She became the first female African artiste to sell out the Indigo O2 Arena, London. She also became the first female Nigerian musician to win the MTV EMA ahead of very strong contenders. Again, Tiwa Savage is the reason behind the viral ‘Fever’ video as done by Wizkid.
- Duncan Mighty
Port Harcourt breed singer Duncan Mighty had such a good year going for him. The Port Harcourt 1st son as he is usually addressed made one of the hottest tune of the year ‘Fake Love’ with Wizkid. The single saw a resurgence of the modern Duncan Mighty who became one of the hottest acts with a high demand for collaboration. He is also behind tunes like ‘Aza’, ‘Bio Bio’, ‘Lova Lova’ etc.
- Mr Eazi
The next on the top 10 biggest Nigerian musicians 2018 list is Oluwatosin Ajibade aka Mr Eazi. The singer has been a sensation in the international music perspective as he has worked with Rudimentals, Major Lazer, Giggs, etc. He made a superb roll out of his mixtape ‘Life Is Eazi; Lagos To London’ Vol 2. The sound on the album was made across Nigeria and London. Currently, ‘Surrender’ is one of the hottest songs at wedding parties and owambe.
- Adekunle Gold
Afro Urban Records star has been classic all year long. He has chosen a part less traveled and made impressive headway. The Urban Highlife singer dropped his sophomore album ‘About 30’ to a great applause. He made a second shutdown of his London show and back in Nigeria had three days of sold out concert at the Terra Kulture. To crown things up, his sophomore album was being considered for a Grammy Awards nomination.
- Simi
In 2018, Simisola Ogunleye continued to be a sensation as she became even more audacious. Simi dropped two great singles and keep things moving with her tour across the across and in London. Simi sold out the Islington Academy London and treated her fans to an awesome show. Back in Nigeria the singer did the same. She also picked up a couple awards during the year.
- Kizz Daniel
Pop star Oluwatobiloba Daniel Adigun better known as Kizz Daniel succeed despite a messy fight with his ex record label G-Worldwide. He has prevailed as he continues to maintain his position as a front line Nigerian musician. In the outgoing year Kizz Daniel was behind hits like ‘Baba’, ‘Wait’ and his personal smash hit ‘One Ticket’ with Davido. He also dropped a top notch sophomore album ‘No Bad Songs’.
