Charity Decku, known in Showbiz as Chari-T, is a Ghanaian singer, songwriter and fashion designer.

Born in Sekondi in the Western Region of Ghana on 1st November, she was raised by both parents – Chief Inspector Michael Decku (Of Blessed Memory) and Prudence Baidoo – at Akyiase, Nkawkaw in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

At an early age, she was exposed to Reggae, Highlife and Gospel music as a result of her late father’s love for these genres.

As a youngster she joined the Methodist Church Junior Choir at Ayigya Bethel Methodist Church, Kumasi and with a strong passion for singing, she became member of a number of singing groups in the church fraternity.

With the urge to showcase her talent to the world, it was not surprising to many when she participated in TV3’s Mentor 7 in the year 2013, where Chari-T rose to fame as many Ghanaians came to love her as “Asu”.

At the Grand Finale which took place at the Accra International Conference Centre on the 22nd of August 2013, she was awarded the fourth position.

Since then Chari-T has recorded songs with artistes including the late C. K. Mann, done covers in honour of the late Ebony Reigns, and performed with live bands across the country. She successfully released her debut single, “Eyes On You” in March 2018.

The future of African Music is bright, and Chari-T is set on becoming the next big thing.
