All The Gist From The MTN Pulse Talk Series In OAU

Friday, July 6th, 2018, was a great day for the students of Obafemi Awolowo University. It was a day for fun. learning, more fun and even more learning. The MTN Pulse Talk series came to town and it was awesome! We got to hear about life, success and how to overcome failure from Business and Life Strategist, Steve Harris and award-winning make-up artist, Bimpe Onakoya.

Steve Harris bounced up the stage and let us into his life story – the two-time college dropout, who had gone from beneath ground zero to a 100%. He even dropped a few lines for the guys, to learn to ‘toast’ their babes! Then he gave out ten of his books to raffle draw winners!

We also heard the moving story of former OAU student, Ifeoma Okoro, a visually challenged woman who had become an author and an inspiration. She was also an MTN Foundation Scholar and explained her struggles and how she was overcoming them by sheer determination. We got to hear her read out one of the poems from her first anthology.

Bimpe Onakoya, Award winning makeup artist and Artistic Director, Maybelline Newyork, Nigeria, gave us all the gist of her “Ondo to the World” story. We could all relate to her inspiring story.

The Pulse Talk Series was fun and yet there were even extra loads of fun outside the Oduduwa Hall – the MTN Pulse District was outside the Hall. There was the Noiseless party and other booths. Imagine all the fun you could possibly have, with the loudest music possible and yet no one else knew what you were listening to!
