Topic: The Portrait Of A Builder [Friday May 11, 2018]

“For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord.” Acts 11:24

I was told recently about a leader who was sent on relief duty when the incumbent went on vacation. He got there and disorganized everything. The incumbent resumed and started crying because his labour over the years had been destroyed within a space of three weeks. Such a person who was sent on a relief assignment is not a builder. You must be careful in assigning someone to a leadership role in any organisation, particularly the church.

The kingdom of God is not about sentiments. When it comes to the kingdom of God, you cannot afford to be partial in judgement. As a leader, you must learn to stand for the truth. If you cannot stand for something, then you will fall for anything and that is not leadership. A leader must be one who is firmly rooted in what he believes.

It is very important but many people do not understand this, particularly in the church. When it comes to kingdom agenda, put sentiments and emotions out of the way. This does not mean you should be nasty. As a leader, you must learn to correct in love. Understand that Jesus paid the supreme price for the church, so you must not allow God’s work to be destroyed because of sentiments.

The Head Pastor is not going to be in the ushering or music department, there should be trusted hands there that can be trusted. In the book of Acts, the apostles looked for who to send. Guess who they sent. A builder of family name; Barnabas. In other words, they were saying to Barnabas: “Barnabas we can trust you.” Can you be trusted with a divine assignment?

If an assignment is committed to your hands and you don’t leave it better than you met it, you are a failure. When it comes to the things of God, it should be from glory to glory.
